Hyacinth Bean Vine

This year is the first time I have grown this beauty. A friend of mine gave me some seeds from her daughter-in-law's plant last fall. At the time we did not know the name of the plant...but after some computer searching I came across the kind.

The blossom reminds me of a sweet pea. The colors are pinkish-purple and white.

As you can tell there is quite a space between each blossom.

Each blossom is producing a pod and from the looks there are several seeds in each pod.

This plant grows very tall and twines around and around on the lattice.

The leaves have purple veins - which makes it look rather unique.
