Blessings

Blessings from God come in many sizes, shapes and fashions.

Several weeks ago we noticed a brown spot in the ceiling of our garage - we knew we had a leak in the roof. With the help of a flash light Leon was able to determine where it was located.

Of course, we were not happy as it had been about 10 years ago we put a completely new roof on the house. We thought the dollars would be leaving our savings account for sure.

Anyway, called a repair man to come out and take a look. He came, crawled upon the roof, and discovered the problem. The head of one of the roofing nails had worked its way up and had worn a hole in the shingle - which in turn allowed the rain to enter. He said the charge would be $20.00 to repair it and wanted to know if we had any of the shingles left from 10 years ago. Well, we did at one time - but had used them to shingle the top of a large wishing well that stands guard in our back yard.

Well, we had a decision to make...buy a bundle of shingles that would match what was presently on the roof....or go with what ever the repair man could find and use that. Since the repair job would be on the back side of the house we opted for what ever he could find.

He called yesterday...he had found a brown one and it matches ours (or at least you can not tell the difference from the ground level). He came out later in the afternoon and installed it.

You know that man could have told us all kinds of stories about repairing the roof - but it appears he is honest and trustworthy...that is a blessing for us.

We tipped him an extra $10.00 for going to the trouble of finding us a matching color...that is a blessing too.

You know God does bless us in so many ways...the small ones are important too. We need to always give him thanks for them - large or small ones!

Amelia, Sometimes God blesses us in the most unexpected ways. Then you and Leon were a blessing to that man because you paid him 50% more than he asked for. I happen to know that you two are a real blessing to many people. God will surely reward you in heaven.
Love, Loretta

Amen, Amelia, Amen. You know, there are blessings in almost EVERY situation if we choose to look for them, and acknowledge them. God loves us, and I am so happy your leaky roof turned into a blessing. PRAISE GOD!

I once heard a sermon preached on "every day miracles". We often do not recognize those little blessings and miracles that happen around us each and every day. I think that if each of us recognized that everything we have is a gift, we would be happier all the way around!

How wonderful! Isn't it nice to find people like that these days. Honest, hard working individuals who charge for only what is necessary.

I think those kinds of blessings happen everyday to someone out there. There are good, honest people all around, they just don't get the notice that someone who would cheat you does.

It was a double blessing because you two saw the value in his honesty and helpfulness and rewarded that.

I am happy to hear there are still honest people out there, but not surprised that they are in Oklahoma! :)

Hi Amelia, sorry to be missing so much as I sew and also get this UFO challenge set up.
What a heart warming story of your leaking roof. Having a man like that take care of the problem is truly a blessing. You are absolutely right, blessings come in many sizes and shapes *VBS* and I can't think of anyone more deserving than you folks! So glad your garage will remain dry. Hugs, Finn

How wonderful you found an honest repair man. I work in the construction business and I know from experience how they can certainly overcharge. What he charged you probably did not even cover his time abd associated truck costs. God Bless you for giving him the extra $10.00.
