Craftin'

Leon and I decided to give money to the "bride to be" at her up coming bridal shower. The bride is one of our granddaughters - so that makes her special.

I know I could have gone to the store and picked out one of those cards with flowers and a lovely message - but this morning I felt the urge to create something - do some kind of craft - something to add to the fun while I was doing laundry. I got an idea to craft a different kind of envelope for the money.

Did some digging around and found an interesting looking envelope.
I gently opened it up - laid it out on lace (sorry got so busy that I didn't get a picture of that part.) But you can see the lace to the left in this shot. Traced about 1/2 inch away from the paper -cut out the lace - then with glue - covered the envelope with the lace.

To close the flap I used two buttons...one white pearl one and a black one. Cut off the shank on the black one and hot glued it to the pearl one...then glued button creation to the envelope. The part that comes down and encircles the button is a string of tiny tiny pearls. To complete it I tied the black bow and glued it on top of the string of pearls (to hide the glue and ends of the pearl string). Reason for using black is that is their chosen color for bridesmaids dresses and other wedding "stuff".

For the card - went to my trusty computer - chose a pretty font and created a short message. My writing is horrible - I can barely read it - so why ruin something with bad writing...put this card and the check in a star covered tulle fabric bag.

Then picked out a pretty gift bag for the tulle bag with its contents - I am now ready for the shower.

This was fun -

There is no end to your creative talent. Thanks for coming by during my 'Happy Place' journey..I need to find a exit ramp for a few days before I breakdown on the side of the road! lol lol Have a great week!

What a lovely idea, it makes giving money so much more 'presenty'. Tell me, what is a bridal (or any other type) shower? I've often read about them on blogs, but I don't think we have such things here - or at least not by that name.

Hi Amelia...what a lovely creation!
I imagine she'll keep the envelope as a memory...I also notice the countdown for Holly's baby is only 3 days away...wow! ;-) Bo

Your envelope is just great. I would so much rather receive a lovely envelope like that, than just a plain one. Love the little loop of peals.

oww wow that turned out pretty. I may use this idea on a project I did with a set of friendship keys. I have never come up with a clever way to present them. The lace is a nice way.

I am loving all the three layer unraveled quilt projects I am seeing in all the craft books right now. It makes me want to try it so bad. I get frustrated so easy when I sew. I am very impatient at times and don't want to pin or press seems. I am thinking of joining a sewing club at the library on Thursday nights. You bring your portable and what ever you are working on and everybody helps the novice ones.....like me.
