Changes

Normally, I don't handle changes very well. I fret about them in advance, stew over them during the process, and afterwards think perhaps I could have handled it some other way.

The above sounds like something serious is about to happen - well...

Nothing big is going to change - except some of the decorations in my house. You know you can live with some things for years and you love them...then you walk thru that room and all of a sudden those items look horrible and you are so tired of it.

Well, this has happened with some of my stuff...yes stuff is what is is...at one time I was pleased with the look and affect - but now I am bored with it.

With fall decorating here on our doorstep and then Christmas right around the corner I decided it was time to purge my home of some of the items I found that they no longer brought me the joy they once did.

S0 what did I do...went to Goodwill and hit several yard sales...found a few items that might be workable...will just have to wait and see. Found out our local Goodwill will be closing the middle of November...that does not make me happy as I have found so many "treasures" there. Oh I know I could have gone to some "expensive" stores and selected bits and pieces - but then I would feel like they would have to live in my house forever to justify the expense...by shopping at lesser priced places is when I grown tired of them or they don't look as I had envisioned I can put them in a garage sale.

This afternoon took two arm loads of "stuff" to the shed - they will become part of daughter's garage sale merchandise . Was going to get out the fall decorations - but the temperature must have been over 100 in there - the outside temp is a bit over 90. Anyway, too hot for me to spend anytime in there. My storage shed is like so many sheds - you have to move boxes to get to the boxes you need.

So now the house looks a bit void of some decorations - as soon as the weather cools I will put out fall items...then Christmas.

In the mean time I will be on the pursuit of new items to use in decorating. Of course, I won't know what I am searching for until I spot it.

Oh, Amelia, you just described ME! You are normal........don't despair. I just told my sister last week when she complained of too much 'stuff'. Put them in a box, put the box in the closet, and if you don't miss it, after awhile, take it to Goodwill and let someone else enjoy it. Make room for 'new' (old) stuff. Sometimes we think we can't part with things, and we find it is very simple.

It is rainy here today, but not overly cool.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I appreciated your blog on changes. It is hard to deal with sometimes. God is good, though. :)

Amelia, You sound like me! I will display things that I absolutely love and then all of the sudden, I think, UGH, that just isn't working anymore! That is the good things about thrifting, you don't feel quite so bad about "recycling" it for different "new to you" objects and decor! LOL! It is really too humid to feel like Fall here, too! But in the air condition, I can pretend that the air is cooling down! LOL!

Hope you have a great weekend! ~Rhonda :)

I'm feeling a huge urge to change things in our home too, but it's just not worth it if we're going to be moving soon. And then I'm promising myself some new 'stuff'. Our house is full of (a) things I have inherited from my family and (b) things Christopher has bought from the charity shops. I'd be happy to get rid of things that are hidden away and never see the light of day, but Christopher hates to get rid of anything, just in case they have any value. I can't see that they have any real value unless we enjoy them and use them.

I love how you are brings items through a full cycle - taking them out of your house to be sold at a yard sale, while replacing with items from yard sales and Goodwill. I find so many great deals at yard sales. We don't have a goodwill close by. I hope a new one opens up nearby when your current one closes. Enjoy your new decor!

OH, I would miss my Goodwill sooo bad!! I love "junking" and finding a "deal" is a treasure, I do the same thing, and then don't feel like I am bound to it forever.

Oh, yes...I can relate to this. I do it a lot. One day every thing looks just great and the very next day, I think, "Good grief, THAT is UGLY" and down it comes. I have an entire walk in closet in my computer/hobby/sewing room that is devoted to STUFF. Stuff that I don't want to get rid of in case I want it someday.....oh,me!!

Hi Amelia,
Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments. It is kinda hard to get in the mood when the weather is so hot. It has been hot and steamy here and raining, hopefully going to cool down by tomorrow. I am so ready for cooler weather.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Amelia - this is my first visit and it has been enjoyable. I had my dining room, living room, and kitchen done in Americana. I got tired of it and did exactly what you did. I gave most of it to my daughter who made a small fortune at her yard sale. Now I am in a kind of inbetween mode - not sure how it will end. I loved your fair entries. No matter how I try, my pie crust does not look nice.

I love to decorate, although I am absolutely no good at it. I also collect things from various places, and keep them in bags hanging in a closet. When a particular season arrives, I put out some things from the particular seasonal bag. I end up with too much junk out sometimes...but at least I am trying! Hehehe!
