Yesterday, June 29th would have been my Mother's birthday.
If she was still alive she would be 88 years old. Her death came about from a car accident many, many years ago. Mother was on her way to work at the hospital where she was a nurse. The morning was very foggy and she turned in front of a car. This was before seat belts or air bags so when her car was hit she bounced all around in the car. She only suffered one tiny cut on the outer part of her body...but inside her body was a different story as all internal organs were ruptured. She lived 23 hours after the accident.
This all happened a few days after Christmas. When we went back to Mother and Daddy's house afterwards the house was as we had left it on Christmas day....except my dear wonderful Mother was with God.
There are so many times since this happened I wish she was still here so I could share the good times (and have her talk to me during the bad times).
My Mother was truly a Godly woman. She set an example for both my sister and me to live our lives as the Bible instructs. Oh, there has been times we have strayed - but that certainly was not our Mother's fault.
"Mama, Happy Birthday!"

I'm so sorry, and just after that joyous holiday time. My thoughts are with you.

Oh Amelia, your post made me cry! Such a sad thing but at least you can rest knowing that she is in a much happier place. I think about that alot, my mom is 54 but my life would be completely different without her. She is not only my mother but my best friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I well know the pain of losing parents and those we love. Many blessings and The Lord's Comfort.
What is it about mothers? I got on so much better with my father than with my mother, but there was a different shaped hole left when she died about seven years ago. I still find things that I want to tell her, or discuss with her.
I will be thinking about you today, Amelia.........
I think when you lose a parent when you are younger and need their guidence, it is way more painful than if you lose them when they (and you) have lived a full life.
Take care.......
Oh girl..I cannot imagine your loss...I am so sorry dear friend...treasure all the beautiful memories you have of your dear mama...in this life if memories don't edify and uplift and make you smile and feel that moment in your heart when all that love happened then it is not worth remembering...hold fast to the love and guidance your sweet mama left you...thanks for coming by friend....you have a beautiful day!
What a lovely tributer to your Mother. I'm sure she is proud of you and knows how much she is missed.
Amelia, Thinking of you during this difficult time...a memorable B'day of a dear loved one! Praying God will give you comfort and strength! Thanks so much for your prayers for David! They mean so much to us! ~ Hugs,Rhonda
Thank you for sharing your mother with us. I believe there are some wounds that time won't heal, at least not until we are reunited with our loved ones in the arms of God.
Love you!
Lisa
I am so sorry for your loss--that is a hard story to read. I'm sure this is a tough day--I hope you can find a peaceful way to remember all the good things about your mom.
Amelia,
I know your mother was a wonderful woman, because she raised 2 beautiful Christian women. She would be so proud of you & Wanda and your families. Both of you have been 2 of many wonderful Christian examples in my life. I am blessed to have ya'll in my life. Thank you for sharing this with us. I never knew this about your mom. Happy Birthday to your sweet mama!
I love you both!!!!
Dearest Amerlia, I'm absolutely sure your Mom has an entire angel chorus singing to her on her special day, and that they celebrate her return to them daily.
It's soooo very hard to lose our mother, at any age. Mine was gone unexpectedly in the middle of the night in her 52 year. I was 27 and just barely a new mom myself. It's a hard piece, always.
My deepest respects in her memory and a big hugs, just because, Finn
Hello there, I saw you on the comments page over at Dot's. I was drawn by your comment to come here, i don't know why.
Happy Birthday to your Mom. I know you love miss her.
AS for those weeds at church, I say let the younger generation do it, so much patience and lessons to be learned while gardening. I like you music on your blog also. We like the same music it seems.
Nice meeting you and spending a moment in your world, thank you.
