National Quilting Day

Today we are celebrating the 17th annual "National Quilting Day".

This is what I have been sewing on (when time permits) today. As you can tell - the pattern is "Grandmother's Fan". This is the first time I have made this pattern so am having some fits with adding the small quarter circle at the end of the fan spokes. It reminds me of a fat lady (me-?) trying to stuff her rounded body into a pair of panty hose. We know it can be done - but it takes some tugging, grunting, and sometimes praying to accomplish the feat. What have you been sewing on to celebrate this day?

Oh I like the colors. I have been sewing on my quilting machine, not much though. I have been sleeping more due to my allergies.

Yes! Your colors ARE wonderful, just a touch of the Irish for sure.

Some folks applique the whole circle down at the end to avoid all the fussing.

It's a *someday* project on my list.

More citus colors..you and I like the same bright colors! Wish we could go shop together!

I don't think I am quite ready to try the tug a war you have going on there......I would end up bald from pulling my hair out and the quilt blocks would be thrown across the room! Be sure and show us your progress

I like the colours. I always applique the corner circle after the fan is on the background. It's a lot easier

love and hugs xxx

i love the green quilt and also the others. I'm a quilter myself and thinking of doing a blog, but don't know a thing about it. If I do decide to do one, I hope you will visit.

Ohh..the greens are really pretty! I love fan quilts and you will get the hang of the curves. I'd rather sew the curves than applique them. I can't wait to see the quilt when it's done.
