Six Weeks and Counting Down

Leon is entering the last few weeks of his employment as a long distance truck driver. March 31st is the last day of driving.

I am SO looking forward to his being home all the time. Having him home for less than 48 hours on the weekend is certainly not long enough.

I realize things will change - more cooking-but that is okay with me.

We have started as much paperwork as we can in order to be prepared for this. I have made arrangements for a health insurance supplement plan for me. He will continue to be covered with the same insurance he had while working. Of course, we will pay more than what he had been paying - but the price is still not too bad. The insurance will also cover his drugs, dental and vision.

He is waiting to sign up for his social security until May...with waiting that long he will be older and can draw more. He will be 64 in August. You may or may not know you have to sign up no less than 90 days from the time you want to start drawing the check. The down fall to delaying is we will have less income for a period of about 5 months. Oh, we will make it...just have to watch our expenses extra close for that period of time.

How exciting! I have a lot of friends at work that are retiring this next month. I can only imagine that Leon is ready. It will be nice for you guys to spend time together. =)

Yay! I'm happy for you! And Leon! I'm already jealous that he'll get to eat your peach cobbler. ;)
