Some how I don’t think this would count as “ push-ups” as described by the vet as part of the lose weight and exercise more new life style. Tramp could care less!

Furry Friends
Our home has two of these friends. Each one has their own personality.
There is a lamp up there so she gets the added warmth.
I kept trying to put some decorative items there…but she would nose them
around to make a place to lie down.
Of course, I was afraid something would come
crashing down.
Caught him in the tray the other day…of all the places he could sleep.
Just a big baby!
Do we spoil our furry friends? Yes, yes, yes.

Bad Luck
There is an old saying that bad luck happens in lots of three. Yesterday seemed to be a fine example of that.
To start with Leon placed his wallet, garage door opener and cell phone on top of his pick-up while he went to do something else. He forgot about their location and took off...about 1/4 mile down the road he saw some things fly off...and realized what had happened. He recovered all items...some in bad condition. The phone and garage door opener beyond repair...so both to be replaced.
After this he came in and settled down in his big easy chair..turned on the TV...nothing...saw the red light in front...got out the book of instructions...the lamp had gone out...these are not cheap.
Had to put our old cat down...she was 18 years old and was displaying many of the traits of an old cat...could deal with all of them but the wetting in places other than her litter box...during the day she slept most of the time...but at night she would roam and do her dirty deeds...her personality had changed too - not a sweet loving cat she had once been - but most time (when awake during the day) she hollered in a nerve grating voice....needless to say Leon had to take her to the vet...I could not do it...it hurt him too - but not as much as it did me......I cried and cried....yet I knew this was best. We still have the other two cats to love and pet.
Today is a new day - sun is shining - God is still in control and taking care of us. His blessings continue to come our way.
On the bright side - got Leon a new cell phone...not as good as the one he had...but it will have to do until we can sign a new contract. As for the garage door opener will check into getting a replacement for that one. We took the old lamp out of the TV - took it to the repair shop - getting a new one ordered...should be in next week. We have the small TV ...so Leon still has a remote to hold in his hand when he is in his chair.

some red, some green...
Yes, some more pictures of decorating ~ a'la Amelia style.
This arrangement is on the coffee table...if you will note the majority is on a picture frame...still my very favorite way of doing it once and for all during the season...just move the frame with all contents to clean.
This was taken while standing in a chair...I know I should not do that...but ground level just got too much of the sofa on one side or the recliner on the other.
All animals in this pictures are soft and furry...however, only one of them purrs and is spoiled beyond words. His name is Tramp. He is the baby in the age line up of the cats - coming in at six years old. It does not do any good to put the other animals in any kind of nice position as Tramp will come and move them here and there to settle in for a nap.
Must add the nurses and physical therapy people to my list of blessings we are receiving. These are the ones from the home health care - friendly, caring, and very professional.

Camera
Got a new camera last week...well , in fact, got two of them. The first one went south after 80 pictures - so took it back and got another one. So, here is hoping this one will be perfect for ever and ever. Just because I got a new camera does not mean my pictures will be perfect - but I am working on getting better ones.
What better objects to practice with than some of my cats. They don't seem to mind...my DH does not want his handsome face (yes, I am prejudiced) in my camera viewer all the time.
However, all the cats seem to do is eat and sleep - with an occasional trip to the litter box. Not much action as far as they are concerned...so guess I should pick something else...come summer time I will take lots of pictures of the flowers.
This is Stormy - she is about 7 years old now. She is the one that sleeps on my bed at night. Also she is the one that lets me know when it is time to get up in the morning.

Latest in the Quilting Chapter
Using scraps to make quilts brings me pleasure - sometimes as much joy as the quilt it's self. I guess it comes from the fact I feel like I am getting more for my money - not that I don't have plenty more fabric stashed in the closet I could use.
Remember back several weeks/months ago I made the Cherry Limeade quilt - had some strips, blocks, etc. left over - so instead of sticking them back in a bag ....I just sort of started creating my own pattern. This wound up being 45 X 45 - which will make a nice lap quilt or perhaps a baby/child quilt. Just don't know where it will land.
This little thing is so small you can not really call it a quilt. Oh, it has all the requirements of a quilt - blocks, batting and backing. However, the finished size was 17 X 17.
The half square triangle blocks came about from the block I made for one of the gals who is with us in an on- line quilting group of women. This gal is in the service (protecting us while we quilt). Anyway, several of us each are making a star block to be put together in a quilt for her when she returns. Well, the first I made somehow fell out of the envelope before it got to South Dakota to be compiled with the other blocks. So I made another block - and mailed it yesterday - so here is hoping it makes it.
So I sewed the triangles together - added the borders - and then quilted it on the machine. This was a first for me - you know I always hand quilt - but with this being so small I thought I would learn something new and machine quilt it. I put my walking foot on the machine and sewed away. Of course, if I could sew a straight line it would have been better - but that is okay - it is mine to use.
If you could say my sewing room has a theme for decorating it would be hearts and apples and antiques...but any way it is done in red, white and blue...so the little quilt looks great on the chest with following the theme colors.
Really probably no one could see that I have a theme or decorating direction in there as most of the time there is fabric on the work table - oft times the ironing board is up - some things may be stacked in the floor. But you know what - it is my room - I can always close the door if I want to. Know a secret though...I very rarely close the door - I don't like closed doors to bedrooms and the cats always think I am hiding something from them if a door is closed.
Now I am doing the hand quilting on the Log Cabins in the Pines quilt I pieced back several months ago. Will probably start making the pinwheel blocks like the sample I showed a couple of weeks ago.

"I'm Cool"
I have just been cooled by the breeze produced by 110 Grandmother's fans.
The quilt of 110 blocks is on it's way to being completed. All of the machine work was completed this afternoon. I don't mean I sewed it all this afternoon - just that I finished today. I started the actual sewing about 10 days ago. It didn't take me long -as there are only 10 pieces in each of the 8 inch blocks.
I wish I had a wall where I could show all the blocks...but don't have - so just blink several times and imagine you have seen all the 110 fans.
Note: if this looks wrinkled to you - it is. It was all pressed nicely - turn my back and Tramp (the yellow furry friend) was stretched out taking a afternoon siesta right on my finished project.

Makes Me Smile - Quilt
I completed this quilt about one year ago. Just ran across the pictures this morning and I thought I would post them. As you know I have three cats and that I think they are pretty special - so why not feature my "star cats" in a quilt along with 8 pointed stars.
The size is 75 x 85 with 1,288 cut pieces in the blocks. The cats are machine appliqued. The detail work is also machine made...just used different type stitches to accomplish what I wanted.
Sixteen different fabrics were used. It was a great way to use up those little 1/2 yard pieces.
As with all my quilts, it was hand quilted.

My Quilting Helper
Of my three cats, this one requires the most attention. He is the baby - years wise- but he is the largest - weight wise. His name is Tramp - because of the way he came to us.
As you can tell, when I am in the sewing room he has to be there and watch very carefully as to what I am doing. Doesn't make him any difference if he is in the way or not. I suppose he just thinks that is my problem.
He also enjoys stretching out on the ironing board...especially just after I have finished pressing something. Having a warm place to recline is just wonderful to him I guess.

Furry Felines
We have three cats that think we have this house just for them. It appears they maintain the idea all I have to do is make sure they have plenty of food, cold clean water, clean litter boxes and allow them to sleep where ever they decide to at any given time and for as many hours as they desire.
But stop and think about it...they bring us much pleasure, laughter, enjoyment and unconditional love.
This is Touche. She is definitely the matriarch of the clan. Age wise, she is around 14 to 15 years old. Seems as if we have had her for ever and ever. Old age for her is causing some problems. She does not jump to very high places now. Her favorite sleeping places are the windows in the computer room or the blue wing back chair in there. She will play around with the other two from time to time - but when she is through she will stick one paw out and make a hissing noise. They know then the game is over with and to go on about their business....(that really means go find a place to curl up and go to kitty cat la - la- land).
This is Stormy - she is the middle child. Believe it or not, this is one of her favorite resting places. She used to be very, very fond of Leon...sitting in his lap and begging for a lick of vanilla ice cream from his spoon. However, after his catching her for a trip to the vet (for the "necessary" fix operation) she will not have very much to do with him. She has not forgiven him! On occasion, he can pet her with no problem. But for the most part she just ignores him.
This is the baby! He is the biggest and baddest.! But also the most lovable. He goes by the title of "Tramp". He was found in a field - crying his poor little heart out one cold blustery day. He was so scared and would not come to me - even though I had food. That night I just left the food on the front porch- with the thought if he could cross the road and eat, it would be destined for him to come live with us. Sure enough, the next morning he was at our house. After some "rounding up" we were able to get him in the house. It took all of about five to ten minutes before he decided he liked our house and me.

Any changes in the house have to be approved. This little doll decoration had just been put on the hearth as part of the fall decorations.

Testers
Stormy and Tramp are the official quilt testers at our house.
This is the quilt I am presently hand quilting. I am probably 3/4ths of the way to having it completed.
Months ago Shirley had asked me to make her one. She said she had no preference in color or pattern...I could just do whatever I wanted.

Approval
After finishing this small quilt for great grandson Hunter I tossed it on the chair while clearing away my sewing items.
This was an open invitation for two of my three furry friends to check out the stitching.
The quilt appears to meet their requirements as Tramp is putting his paw of approval on it. Stormy is giving it her steady gaze to see if she can find any flaws.
Tidbit of info: This quilt measured out 49" X 49" when it was finished. It has over 600 cut pieces in it.
As with all my quilts, small or large, they are sewn with lots of love in each and every stitch. I ask each recipient to use - but not abuse- the quilt.
Note: After posting this I see where the paragraphs are all ran together...can't seem to correct the problem....me or Blogger?

We are leaving in the morning for a short visit with Leon's Aunt Jewel. She lives in a small town not far from Fort Smith, Arkansas.
