Latest Creations

The embroidery machine and I are becoming pretty good buddies now. I have learned a lot - and still more to learn. Learned one thing - good stabilizer is certainly a key to having a successful job.

I decided the other day instead of just running a series of misc. type patterns to do something useful. Then thought about the idea of making towels to fasten to the handle of the oven door. I had made a couple of these several years ago as just plain ones - no decorating - just very simple. During the last Wal-Mart run I picked up several kitchen towels.

Here are pictures of the ones I made - looked for a rooster pattern but they were out - in the cheaper ones...could have got one for $5.00 - but did not want to spend that much money for just playing around.

Guess whose kitchen gets this one?

For darling daughter when I go up there in a few days.

This is one of the patterns on my machine. This one will probably wind up in my kitchen also.

I might purchase additional towels and make up some more. I think they would make nice additions to wedding shower gifts....especially if I know what color their kitchen will be decorated in.

I already had the fabric, batting and most of the buttons. I did buy the black buttons as I knew I did not have any that would work in my button stash.

Time wise they don't take too long...just trying to figure out what words to use to go along with the pattern of the towel could test my pea sized brain. Must say the whole process was interesting and fun.

Anyone got any ideas of what else I could make - something fun and out of the ordinary.

Too cute.

I'm one of those cat people. And I even like chickens in the kitchen.

You'll get much better ideas than I ever will.

Great work.

Great job! Here's an idea (stealing this one from my sister!) - how about monogramming bath towels or hand towels? They make great gifts. Also, you can buy (or make) inexpensive little polar fleece receiving blankets. Bet your machine has a sweet bunny or giraffe you could embroider in the corner and then put a child's name on it. Oh, personalize a baby bib for your new grandchild!

I just went to a weding shower for my soon-to-be daughter-in law and your idea for towels would have been perfect. Of course, I don't have an embroidery machine but if I did, that's what I'd be making!

Your towels look great! Don't be afraid to try something you'd like to do. Shirts, jeans, towels, quilt blocks, purses, totes..overwhelming isn't it? LOL.

I have way too many projects stored in my head and not enough time...

Putting that machine through its paces! Great work. Those towels will be a nice addition to a bridal 'kitchen shower' basket of those little do-dads needed in the first kitchen.

What cute towels.

Oh my, you would have a ball at the quilt shop near my house. Victoria and I went there today to look at all the wonderful fabric. I am not a quilter, but really enjoy looking at all of the great stuff when I'm there. We don't even have to spend money, just being there w/all that beautiful fabric is fun.

What about some monogrammed bath towels and or hand towels. Love, love, love those. Oh, and pillowcases. Also love those.

Also you could monogram something for your dear little granddaughter. Just an inexpensive shirt from Target or something.

Oh, just realize that Suzan mentioned bath towels---well, great minds think alike. ; )

I love your ideas! The top chef one is really cute. If you have any sports fans, you could also make towels with "Sooners fans eat here" or something like that. You could make those with a plain red towel embroidered in white. Or perhaps a football or basketball towel (if you can find something like that) with a red top like those you showed here.

I really like your new heading Amelia - you've probably had it for ages, but this is the first time I've spotted it. What a great idea for your kitchen towels - I've never seen anything like that before. They'll make great presents. You could give some of your older clothes a new lease of life by adding some embroidery to them. And if you have a bazaar coming up you'd be very popular - you could take orders for personalised towels or bibs. Oh, so many ideas - but I bet you've got even more.
