White Pitcher Additions

Going to garage/yards sales is usually always fun and yesterday was no acception. Did not buy a lot of items - but what we bought we were pleased with them.

I have started a collection of white pitchers...ones that I have bought at Goodwill or yards sales. The ones I had were all on the small side - but yesterday that changed - found two large ones - that wanted to come home with us. This is so fragile looking with the tall thin neck part. You can't really see all the detail work from this picture though. It stands 12 inches tall. Pricing was $1.00 - now isn't that a deal.
This picher and bowl is now part of my collection...I had looked at a set similar to this several weeks ago and the seller wanted $10.00 - but I did not want to spend that much on that particular set as it was real plain - not many curves or detail work. When I spotted this one yesterday I knew it was the one for me. Of course, it was all dirty - but it cleaned up great and no chips at all. Price for this - $2.00.

So for a total of $3.00 I added two great items to my collection. They make me happy - oh I know I am probably crazy but that's okay too.

A couple of other things we bought that I thought were great deals was a box of one inch 3 ring dark blue binders. They were plain with no writing on them at all. The box was full (18) and I pulled one out of the box and asked the lady "How much?" - to which she replied she would sell the whole box for $1.00 - yes you read that correctly - just 100 pennies - $1.00. In 17 of the 18 binders there were about 20 plastic page protectors. These notebooks had been set up for a Home and Garden party (you know like Pampered chef or Home Interior sales). So all the pages needs to be removed from the plastic protectors.

You wonder what I am going to do with 18 binders...well I don't know for sure but for $1.00 I will find something. My daughter wants some and DIL wants some - so after sharing with the girls I may not have too many left.

Another good buy was cloth napkins...one package contained 6 blue and another package contained 7 white ones. Each of the packages were $1.00 each. Since we use cloth napkins at every meal we use quite a few during the week. Plus I like to use a different style/color every day - just like I usually put out different place mats each day. Yes, I do have some strange quirks (God made me this way lol).

After hitting the sales my sweet husband took me to lunch...a wonderful day!

Hi Amelia
I just clicked on your name at BJ's when I saw you signed Class of 59.

I have that same second pitcher and bowl. I made it in ceramics in 1976, as my bicentennial project. I'll bet yours was made by someone in a ceramics class, also.

Mine is in my studio/guest room, upstairs. I put potpourri in it. I've used fresh flowers in it also. Most of the people who made this pitcher and bowl used colored glazes like pinks and blues, but I liked the look of the white and so that's what I decided.

PS: When you click my name it will take you to my profile. Clicking on the second link there, will take you to my blog Back Porch Musings.

Hi Amelia. This is my first time here and I like it. You got a great deal on the pitchers. I'm a pitcher nut. You could always put those binders in a yard sale of your own. Come on by my place for a visit. Prim Hugs and Blessings, Celene

I don't think there's anything wrong with collecting things you enjoy or with using cloth napkins.

In fact, I commend you for the cloth napkins. They are better for the environment. :)

PS: I like the signature at the end of each post. Neat addition.
