Thrifty Finds

While in town today went by the local thrift store to see if I could find something that interested me. It had been a couple of weeks since I had been there so I figured it was time to indulge myself with this shopping pleasure.

Normally, the book selection is very limted - but today's offering had many books. However, this was the only one I could find on quilting. I have just thumbed through it very briefly but there appears to be a couple of quilts I would like to try. Goodness knows, I have plenty of fabric stashed away to make them. Original published price was $29.95 and that was back in 1991.

Also found a couple of other things today that just had to come home with me. I like to collect white cups, saucers, bowls, etc...usually in stoneware. I also like blue and white items...only have a few of them though. This small plate was today's find. I know it is not a valuable item...but I like it and it looks great along with my other items. Found this little pitcher looking all dirty and with water calcium build-up on it. However, with some scrubbing I was able to get it looking pretty once again. There are a couple of small chips - but they add character. No, it is not going to bring me any fortune if I sold it on E-bay. Nor am I going to take it to "The Antiques Road Show".
Total cost of all three items today was a whopping $2.79 - including tax. I did save a bit as Wednesday is "Senior Savings Day" and they deduct 15% off. I will take the discount anytime I can.

I think that pitcher is lovely.....and the plate can really stand on it's own. I indulge myself in trips to the thrift store now and then and I think it is time! I hope I find good stuff like you did!

I also went to the thrift store today but came out empty handed . Some of them older quilt books are much better then the new ones and for that price it was well worth it .Great fines .

I have that book, too! I pull it out from time to time but have yet to make anything from it. Nice classic patterns and good information.

What great new finds Amelia! I have that old quilting book, bought way back when it was new...ages ago! It's a good one, I don't think that kind ever go out of date.
The plate and cream pitcher are just lovely. I collect old pitchers like that. Never very expensive and it sure is fun looking for them. Sounds like a great day for shopping. Hugs, Finn

Wow, that's a lot of treasures for the price you paid. Isn't it fun? I wish we lived closer. We could have a good old time, couldn't we?
