My Hobby

People might think I have given up quilting as my number one hobby. No, I have not. However, in the summer time it slows down to a snail's pace.

I have completed two baby quilts in the last few months...and almost thru with another one.

Both of them were accomplished with a cheater pattern...normally I cut all those 10 zillion pieces and sew them back together...but when I saw this fabric design I knew it was something that would feel good in making. You know how some fabric just talks to you - well, this one did. 100_1942
The first one I used just a binding - no border. On this one, I added the red border to make it a bit larger.

100_1943 100_1944 100_1945 100_1948As you can tell from these pictures the characters are so cute...what child would not love this little quilt?

From this snapshot you can see my hand quilting. On the center right is the label I made with my embroidery machine Leon bought me back in the spring.

The first quilt was given to a couple at church. The second one is still here in the (messy) sewing room - but it will also go to a couple at church.

Blessing of the week: rain, cooler temps, and starting a new quilt.

It's so cute and a real keepsake for someone. We still have the quilts that were made for my guys. My younger son dragged his everywhere so it has a lot of memories attached.

Thank you for the kind words! I always look forward to reading your comments.

I love your quilt!!!! The animals are so vintage looking and I love the pattern!

The place I learned to "sew" is really a quilt shop and has the prettiest stuff. They also teach quilting classes so maybe that will be a thing to learn another year.

That's a lovely baby quilt. Nice part about the cheater cloth when you hand quilt is......no seams to have to stitch through! I know some lucky little one is going to appreciate receiving that.

Very pretty hand quilting. Nothing wrong with cheater patterns. I been enjoying quilting some lately myself.

Not a thing wrong with using the cheater fabric when you find one you like. I've made several baby quilts using such cute cheater fabric and, half the time, people don't even know the difference unless they look really close!
This is so cute!

Adorable. I love that you showed the back too, so we could really see the wonderful stitching.

Quilts are just thing for cuddling up a little one---and a big one. I had one of my grandmothers rag quilts on my bed as a teenager.

I love all your decorations, but I must admit that one had me absolutely drool.

I love the blue glass with the orange colors. What a great combination.

Thank you for sharing the photos.
